SAVAGE MONDAYS - EVERY MONDAY...

our first meeting is tomorrow,

Monday 5p.m. Anthropology department meeting room.
(Goldsmiths College)

Our plan is to introduce you more fully to our plans related to the ISEFF film festival, an exciting new event for the anthropology society.
The festival's title is "constructing bonds"

This will be the opportunity to share our work so far - for this we'll screen two films submitted for the festival (considering the society is organising it, our meeting space is a moment to open our work and the submissions to you):

- "Vera and Jons" a Latvian film on an old couple in Siberia. This piece explores how the generation that was sent to the goulag both resisted the oppression in their own way and how they re-constructed their lives.

- the "aedamo of the kara" a German film directed in Ethiopia. This project explores the ways in which the KarĂ , a political body of 1,400 people living in the South Omo Zone of Ethiopia, rhetorically enact and manage social relations both within the population and between the group and its cultural neighbors.

We are building up a program for "Savage Mondays", for which our main goal is to invite guest-speakers for seminar-debates (on current phd research, around the employment of anthropologists, bringing people from think-tanks, NGOs, research-center...) and to screen films received for the festival and around ethnographic film.
Those Mondays are "in your own hands" as well as ours, indeed a space to contribute according to your personal interests and works.

Looking forward to seeing you!

(Ps: facebook group over here, here, here!)
